We had an emergency and my wife was having a melt down. Calum came out very short noticed and diagnosed the fault in minutes. Due to going on holiday we couldn't get the full fix in place but he is coming back soon. He knows what he's talking about and explains everything in an easy way to understand what's happening. Calum was asked to come and check out a Combi Boiler that has been playing up for some while; with a view to a replacement. He solved the immediate problem that I had, as a "Temporary Fix" by recharging the Expansion Vessel; with no prediction of how long it would last without losing pressure again.. He gave me advice as to what he thought I should do; without any "Sales Pressure"! His recommendation was to fit a type of Combi Boiler Manufactured by Intergas. Though not the cheapest, there is a 10 Year Guarantee on Parts and Labour ( the last Boiler that it has replaced was a lot less than 10yrs old and had required many new parts; at quite a cost). The Boiler that Calum has fitted; I am extremely impressed with. Without going into too many "Technical" details (which I couldn't really do anyway!) it is a Condensing Combi Boiler which has a very clever system to control and maintain a level temperature in the House. Our old system went on, reached a temp, then went off; only "kicking in" when the House had cooled. This could result in "spikes" when the house would go cool, then extremely warm; quite frequently. This new Boiler system maintains a heat level consistently, once it has reached the required level; without the cycle of Hot / Cool. It is absolutely brilliant. I do have to say that, to some it, would seem a high initial cost to install one of these Boilers but; a 10 Year Parts and Labour Guarantee was a clincher for me. (When I break down the cost of installing this Boiler, over 10 years; it is an extremely sensible move for me. Plus, the old one was costing me money on breakdowns and parts) The actual installation was done without too much disruption and with very little mess. A job well done.
